Dressing

On Saturday, after a fail plan for a trip to the south, me and my friends decided to go having a picnic, which finally lead us to PD. Since it was Chinese New Year holiday, the beach at Telok Kemang was so crowded and then, we decided to proceed to Blue lagoon, which located around 10 km from Telok Kemang.
Lucky for us, the area was not so crowded as the place was quite ‘hidden’. After selecting our port, we had some fun. Kite flying, sleeping and ‘chicking’ were interesting. After a while, we noticed a group of girls who really attracted our eyes.
As normal and functional males, our eyes were automatically adjusted towards girls wearing swimming suit, which only covered their breasts. Interesting isn’t it? It’s like we were hypnotized by those chicks. It was uncommon view for me who come from a not-so-free-to-do-anything state.
From what we noticed, those chicks were Malay, which I believe they are Muslims descendents. For some people, this might not be a big issue but for me, it is a big issue. First, as Muslims they shouldn’t show their parts of body especially the parts that can stimulate libido desire of the opposite genders. Secondly, come on, we are in Malaysia, not in US nor Netherland nor Australia! It is against the value of the eastern culture.
Let’s think we are in the situation, wearing half naked dress, exposing 90% of breast and walking down the street or playing at the beach. If a guy keep looking at your body, do you feel comfortable? Do you feel secure or scared? If a guy come close to you and touch your explosive parts of your body, would you get mad or you just smile and proud? I believe 99% of women would feel the first one. The feeling of uneasy, threatened, scared and cautioned would come across their mind. if you get raped, who to blame? The rapist? The dress? The Lord? This is what so many women rarely think of.
By wearing a much modest dress, it doesn’t mean you ladies can’t have much fun, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the life, doesn’t you are nun. Open your eyes, no matter what religious you are devote for. I believe any religion in the world advised the devotees to dress decently and moderately.
In the case of the group of chicks that I saw in PD, it’s not entirely their fault in dressing that way. We are sharing the same responsibility to teach our youngsters to act (in this case to dress) properly. Beauty doesn’t lie in the sexy and exposive body, it lies in the heart of the people. If the heart is clean, the beauty will appear. Think of it.
